Dan Lissner, President

Dan Lissner provides legal, regulatory, and operational counsel to clean energy companies.

Dan is the past General Counsel and Vice President of Administration of Next Step Living, Inc., a residential energy efficiency company which provided energy-savings solutions to more than 130,000 customers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. Dan helped the company raise funds, complete acquisitions, and form partnerships with municipalities, utilities, and Fortune 500 businesses to implement weatherization, windows, HVAC, rooftop solar, and community solar projects. Dan led the company's legal, human resources, facilities, risk and compliance functions through implementing a strategic transformation from a general contractor into an online technology platform.

Dan is also the past General Counsel of and Vice President of Operations of Free Flow Power Corporation, where he led the team responsible for permitting and studying over 250 sites for hydropower development. Dan worked hand-in-hand with regulators and stakeholders to implement transformative changes to the regulatory process for hydropower, including the first-ever project to receive a license under FERC's two-year integrated licensing process, as well as the coordination of stakeholders from seven states for the systematic development of over 100 hydrokinetic sites in the Mississippi River from St. Louis to the Gulf of Mexico. At the same time, he was Free Flow Power's chief legal counsel, as the business grew from its earliest stages, through a private equity partnership, to ultimately license a portfolio of over 200 MW of projects in six states.

Dan began his career as a trial attorney, including as an Assistant District Attorney in Boston and as an attorney at the civil litigation firm Boyle, Morrissey & Campo, where he represented businesses and insurers. He received a B.A. from the University of Texas and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. He is a bar member in Massachusetts and Virginia.
